$1.1Million Redoute’s Choice Colt

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 9

Arrowfield Stud’s legendary sire Redoute’s Choice passed away last year but his legacy stretches long and he hit a home run at Magic Millions on Thursday when his colt from Gresset sold for $1.1million.

$1.1million Redoute's Choice colt sold by Bhima ThoroughbredsBred by Jonathan Munz’s GSA Bloodstock and consigned by Bhima Thoroughbreds, the colt is the second foal of Gresset, a well-bred Hussonet (USA) mare from a big European Black type family featuring champions Almanzor and Darjina.

Her first foal by Scissor Kick made just $22,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale last year in the Highway Session, so the success of this colt is a massive leap forward for this mare.

The colt was purchased by leading trainer Gerald Ryan, who has had success buying Redoute’s Choice colts from this sale having purchased champion sire Snitzel at the Gold Coast back in 2004.

“I’m not surprised we had to pay that much as he’s the best colt in the sale,” Ryan said in his post sale comments.

“I’ll be very surprised if he’s not up and going early, he’s a beautiful mover, a lovely horse.”

The colt will run in the same colours as Ryan’s current smart two year-old Return With Honour, who is owned by Chinese based Mr An’s Golden East Horse.
