High Chaparral gave us an interesting two year-old winner at Wyong on Tuesday when the John Sargent trained Home Ground made it two wins from three starts when he beat older rivals to win the Class One contest over 1600 metres.

Home Ground took forever to wind up, but hit the line hard for Travis Wolfgram to score a by a long head.

A $420,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Apollo Ng from the Coolmore draft, Home Ground has been entered for the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes and will certainly have no trouble with the 1600 metres of that assignment!

From the last crop of foals by High Chaparral, he is the first winner for smart Danehill Dancer (IRE) winner First Look, a full sister to stakes-winner Danehill Smile.
