€1.85million Sale-Topping Frankel Filly Now Triple G1 Oaks Winner for Coolmore

Tara Madgwick - Friday August 22

Already a winner of the Group I Epsom Oaks and Irish Oaks, expensive blueblood Frankel filly made it a treble of G1 Oaks races when landing the Group I Yorkshire Oaks (1m4f) overnight.

Lightly raced Minnie Hauk had just two starts last year breaking her maiden in the second of them at Leopardstown over a mile and hasn’t been beaten since.

The Aidan O’Brien trained filly won the Listed Cheshire Oaks at her first start this year and is building an impressive record with three subsequent G1 victories.

Ridden again by Ryan Moore in a small four horse field, Minnie Hauk was far too good scoring by three and a half lengths with her overall record now five wins from six starts.

“Minnie Hauk cruises and she's a lovely mover, and obviously the Arc and the Breeders' Cup Turf are there for her,” said Aidan O’Brien.

“A lot of people have done a lot to look after her, so I appreciate everyone's hard work and I'm delighted. Ryan gave her a class ride and he was very cool on her.”

The stable has two top class three year-old fillies in Minnie Hauk and Whirl (Wootton Bassett) so a decision on where they go next will be an interesting one.

“Ryan said possibly the Arc for Whirl and the Breeders' Cup for this filly depending on ground. Whirl, as we saw at Goodwood, handles soft ground, but she handles the other ground as well,” O’Brien said.

“Minnie Hauk has run on soft ground, but we always thought the quicker the ground the better she'd be, and she skipped over that. She has a lot of options, but the better the race the better she'll be.”

Minnie Hauk topped the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale in 2023.

Minnie Hauk was purchased by MV Magnier for €1.85million at the Goffs Orby Sale from the Camas Park Stud draft and topped the sale.

Bred by Ben Sangster, she is a half-sister to Group II winner Tilsit from blue-blood Dansili mare Multilingual, a sibling to 2014 European Horse of the Year and champion sire Kingman and Group IIII winner Remote from Group I winner Zenda.

Minnie Hauk is the second G1 winner among seven stakes-winners by Frankel from daughters of Dansili and the other G1 winner is Epsom Oaks winner Soul Sister.

The nick runs at 77% winner to runner and 32% SW to runner.
