European Stakes Success for Redoute’s Choice

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 28
Champion sire Redoute's Choice produced his second European stakes-winner this week when three year old colt Sevenna Star won the bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown on Friday.

Trained by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettor, Sevenna Star didn't let driving rain deter him and stuck to his guns well to win the 1m2f contest by a short head.

"Sevenna Star is a huge horse and we didn't do a lot with him last year. He had two runs and he's a giant. He's seen the hill out well and I think it's very good form with Chilean in there," said John Gosden.

A Gestut Ammerland homebred, Sevenna Star is the fourth stakes-winner from Galileo's Group III winning daughter Sevenna and has won two of four starts.

He is the second stakes-winner this week in Europe for Redoute's Choice joining four year-old Time's Arrow, who won a Listed race in France.

Turning 23 this spring, Redoute's Choice is now the sire of 156 stakes-winners and will cover a limited book this year at Arrowfield at a fee of $137,500.
