Blue Point Colt Bosustow Tough In $3mil MM Guineas

Breednet - Friday January 17

The big-spending Victorian Alliance has a new pin-up horse after blueblood colt Bosustow stamped himself as a star with victory in Friday night’s $3 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).

Bosustow wins the MM 3YO Guineas

The son of Blue Point, who is a half-brother to G1 winner Amelia’s Jewel, was Stakes-placed on four occasions prior to Friday night, including when third to Broadsiding in last year’s G1 J.J. Atkins Stakes.

His moment in the spotlight came courtesy of a perfectly-timed ride from jockey Josh Parr, who settled three wide with cover before producing the colt with clear galloping room at the top of the straight.

Bosustow dashed a length clear inside the final 100m before staving off the late challenge from Barry Lockwood’s Give Me Space.

Trainer Annabel Neasham said the win was a satisfying result for the Rosemont Stud-led Victorian Alliance which, along with bloodstock agent Suman Hedge, paid $900,000 for the colt out of the Segenhoe Stud draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

“It’s a big prize pot for a very well-bred colt with a great bunch of owners,” Neasham said.

“He’s been a little bit of a bridesmaid this horse - he’s obviously Group 1 placed up here behind Broadsiding and he was a bit unlucky not to win at Flemington during Cup week.

“He’s always been there abouts and we knew he had a big one in him.

“It was timed to perfection by Josh – I could see he had a lap full of horse around the corner.

“I’m just so happy for Rosemont Stud and their partners.”

Parr, who won the 3YO Guineas in 2023 aboard Fashion Legend, said he was happy to atone for the Bosustow’s defeat in the G3 Vo Rogue Plate last start.

“I went to Brisbane specifically to ride him and I was very happy to have picked up the ride that day (in the Vo Rogue Plate),” Parr said.

“There were a few things that didn’t go his way that day – he was quite fresh, it was a hot, humid day and he got quite restless and agitated in the barriers and missed the start.

“Today, he was the ultimate professional.

“We sat midfield, three-wide with cover and his turn of foot was incredible.

“He was challenged late and he remained strong the last bit.”

The win took Bosustow’s earnings beyond $1.9 million and now Group 1 aims loom for the stallion prospect.

The Siyouni half-brother to Bosustow sold for $625,000 at Magic Millions this year.

Bosustow’s half-brother, a colt by Siyouni out of Bumbasina that is a full-brother to Amelia’s Jewel, sold to Perth trainer Luke Fernie for $625,000 at last week’s 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Despite finishing 16th in the 3YO Guineas, connections of Lee and Cherie Curtis’ filly Bauhinia collected $181,250 in Magic Millions Racing Women Bonuses as the first all-female owned horse past the post.

Connections of rank outsider Nuestra pocketed $68,750 in Magic Millions Racing Women Bonuses in addition to prizemoney, despite the horse failing to beat a runner home.
