Winx Foals a Snitzel Colt

Breednet - Monday November 25

The owners of Winx have announced the champion mare has foaled a healthy colt by Snitzel early on Monday morning.

With her last service date listed on Studbook as November 29, she was certainly due, giving 12 months a nudge, although a long pregnancy seems the norm given her last foal, by Pierro, was foaled on Oct 7 off a service date of October 17.

With the late season foaling, part-owner Peter Tighe told Racenet it would be unlikely she would visit a stallion this season.

The colt is only Winx’s second foal since retiring in 2019.

Winx with her first foal - a filly by Pierro

After her first foal was born deceased in 2020, she missing the following season before foaling a Pierro filly, which famously set a world sale ring record of $10million earlier this year at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale when bought by another part-owner, Debbie Kepitis.

She subsequently missed to Snitzel last season before this latest successful pregnancy.
