Nominations online for 2017 George Main Stakes day

Winx headlines the first Group I at Randwick for the season, with 10 nominated to take on the champion mare in the Colgate Optic White George Main Stakes (1600m).

The $500,000 weight-for-age event, which will be run as the Colgate Optic White Stakes for the third year running, will have its nominations extended until 11am Tuesday.

Of the 10 other horses currently entered, Le Romain, Ecuador, Foxplay, Invincible Gem, Mackintosh, McCreery and Tom Melbourne are all nominated for other races which could leave a field as small as four, comprising Winx, Gerald Ryan's Red Excitement, Heaven's Above for Tim Martin, and Pat Webster's Happy Clapper.

The Group II Shorts (1100m) has attracted a bumper line-up with The Everest adversaries English and Chautauqua scheduled to resume. Peter and Paul Snowden's Everest hopeful Redzel has also been entered.

Other notable nominations for the $200,000 set weights and penalties event include Fell Swoop for Matt Dale and the Gary Moore-trained Takedown.

Furious Stakes heroine Formality will step out for Hayes' and Dabernig in the third leg of the Princess Series – the Group II Tea Rose Stakes (1400m). While Bjorn Baker and James Cummings will be looking to turn the tables on Formality with Champagne Cuddles and Alizee.

The Group III Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) has attracted 16 nominations, the Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) 19 and the Heritage Stakes (1100m) 12.
