Bold Bastille to be offered on Inglis Digital

Media Release - Tuesday November 12

Bold Bastille – the most precocious 2YO of her generation – will be offered in a boutique Inglis Digital Online Sale early next week.

The lightly raced Bold Bastille (Brazen Beau) is a four-time winner from just nine career starts for more than $750,000 in prizemoney.

She was a top-class juvenile, winning four of her five starts as a 2YO including three Stakes races.

She debuted with a tough on-speed victory in the $500,000 Inglis Banner, defeating eventual G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Hayasugi by three lengths.

That performance led to The Ratings Bureau rating her higher than any other pre-New Year 2YO for the 2022/23 season, higher than the likes of Storm Boy, Straight Charge, Eneeza, Traffic Warden, Manaal, Hayasugi etc.

As a 2YO Bold Bastille also won the Listed Furphy Trophy, Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes and the lucrative VOBIS Gold Rush.

Her 3YO form includes a close-up fourth against the older horses in the Listed Carlyon Stakes behind eventual G1 Moir Stakes winner Mornington Glory as well as a second-placing behind four-time Stakes winner and G1 placed filly Bellatrix Star in the Listed Cap d’Antibes Stakes.

Bold Bastille is being offered as a racing and breeding prospect on Inglis Digital.

Bold Bastille was a $270,000 Premier Yearling Sale purchase for her trainers Ben, Will and JD Hayes with Mathew Becker of Group 1 Bloodstock.

Her dam Chloe In Paris (Exceed And Excel) was herself a fast, on-speed Stakes winner, while her granddam is the top-class sprinter Innovation Girl.

Becker has no doubt Bold Bastille will make an “outstanding broodmare’’ when the time comes.

“The commercial market really highly values precocity and what you find is those really good-looking, fast 2YO type of yearlings like Bold Bastille is they generally go on and throw that in their own progeny and I can see this filly producing that type of early 2YO herself,’’ Becker said.

“She’s got such a deep family behind her, the pedigree backs it up and I’m sure she’ll make a quality broodmare in time.

“She was so precocious, very natural, everything you want to see in a filly that will run at two, very forward, so well put together, very correct, she just really stood out and a lot of good judges were on her at Inglis Premier.

“That win on debut was quite breathtaking and the form around her has been elite, it really stood up time and again.

“Like we do with all our good fillies – Coolangatta, Sierra Sue and plenty of others – we essentially offer everything to the market so somebody will be buying a dream mare and broodmare prospect.’’

Co-trainer Ben Hayes added: “She’s so fast, so strong, has such a great shoulder on her and just so straight forward to train.

“She’s completely sound, she raced well last week and has plenty of racing left in her if that’s what her buyer chooses to do with her.”

For Inglis Victorian Bloodstock Manager James Price, Bold Bastille represents a “special” opportunity for investors.

“She is a very appealing prospect – fast, good-looking and with a smart pedigree,” Price said.

“There are a hell of a lot of races across the country for a filly like her through the balance of the racing season and in time she is going to mate very well with a broad cross-section of the most commercial stallions in Australia and New Zealand.”

The Bold Bastille Sale will be live on inglisdigital.com from 3pm this coming Friday, November 15.

Bidding will open at 9am Monday and close off from 4pm Tuesday, November 19.

The online entry will include recent images, fresh parade vision and a feature video on her career.

To arrange an inspection of Bold Bastille, please contact Lindsay Park Bloodstock Manager Josh Rix (0411 116 648 or josh@lindsaypark.com.au).
