Wootton Bassett Leads European 2YO Sires

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 9

When Wootton Bassett (GB) first started shuttling to Coolmore Australia in 2021 there was much talk about what the future would hold for this exciting sire when his first Coolmore conceived progeny came online and if we fast forward three years the future is now.

With a Group I winning colt at Longchamp on Sunday in Camille Pissarro, Wootton Bassett has hit the top of the European 2YO Sires List with this first crop of Irish conceived foals certainly living up to expectation.

The table below sourced from Bloodhorse is for European based sires of two year-olds and takes in all of Europe combining the big three countries of the UK, Ireland and France.

Wootton Bassett has his first Australian two year-old runners this season and has had a big fee increase this year to $192,500, which now looks justified in line with his achievements.

Wootton Bassett (GB) has had a memorable year for 2YO's in Europe.
