Dazzling Return for Godolphin’s Giant I Am Invincible Filly

She’s big and beautiful and I Am Invincible’s super talented filly Commemorative might be growing into her impressive frame as she produced a dazzling first  up win in the Benchmark 72 event at the metro meeting at Wyong on Wednesday.

A Godolphin homebred prepared by James Cummings, Commemorative bolted in on debut at Canterbury last June, but could not land a blow in three starts last spring including two runs in Melbourne in stakes races.

She’s obviously held in high regard and showed her true colours on Wednesday when powering to the line to win the 1200m dash by nearly two lengths with James McDonald in the saddle.

Commemorative has two wins and a second from five starts with earnings just shy of $120,000 and it will be no surprise to see this filly go far in the back half of the season.

Commemorative is the third winner from five foals to race from Street Cry (IRE) mare Memorial, who was second in the Group II ATC Silver Slipper.

Memorial is a real Godolphin blueblood being a half-sister to Group I winner Impending, Group III winner Forget, stakes-winner Epidemic and to the dam of Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Lyre from dual Group I winning filly Mnemosyne.

The I Am Invincible x Street Cry nick has nine winners from 10 runners and it’s hard not to think Commemorative won’t join the two stakes-winners already bred this way in Shuffle Dancer and Waltz On By.

Reigning champion sire I Am Invincible had a seven winner Saturday and three of those winners were stakes-winners with Vinrock (2YO colt)and Enriched (3YO colt) joined later in the day by the Godolphin homebred mare Commemorative, who scored a dominant win in the Group III ATC Wenona Girl Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
