Invincible Filly Proves Her Class

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 18

She’s big and beautiful and I Am Invincible’s super talented filly Commemorative has long promised to win a stakes race and joined all the dots at Scone on Saturday finishing like an express train to win the $200,000 Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes (1100m) in a breeze.

A Godolphin homebred prepared by James Cummings, Commemorative has been a work in progress and was fourth in the Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes at here previous start.

She was ridden patiently by Zac Lloyd and when Commemorative hit top gear after turning for home the race was over.

"Commemorative has promised to deliver something of that nature and she was very good today,'' stable representative Darren Beadman said.

"The main aim today was to try and get her into a nice rhythm early, get her to relax and let her use that big stride of hers on this track.

"She enjoyed getting plenty of open air and this was an important win for her. She's very well bred so it was pleasing to get this result.''

Commemorative is the best of three winners from five foals to race from Street Cry (IRE) mare Memorial, who was second in the Group II ATC Silver Slipper.

Memorial is a real Godolphin blueblood being a half-sister to Group I winner Impending, Group III winner Forget, stakes-winner Epidemic and to the dam of Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Lyre from dual Group I winning filly Mnemosyne.

Memorial missed to Pinatubo in 2022 so had no foal last year, but is now in foal to I Am Invincible’s Group I winning son Brazen Beau.

Commemorative is the 108th stakes-winner for reigning champion sire I Am Invincible.

The I Am Invincible x Street Cry nick has nine winners from 10 runners with Commemorative the third stakes-winner joining Shuffle Dancer and Waltz On By.
