Pariah Filly Lady In Pink Makes Wining Return

Mark Smith - Wednesday March 20

There might be a black-type race in the not-too-distant future for Lady In Pink as the 3-year-old daughter of Pariah returned from a 17-week break to capture the Sportsbet Fast Form (Bm64) (1300m) at Sandown-Hillside on Wednesday.

Ridden by Blake Shinn for Leon and Troy Corstens, Lady In Pink cruised to the front at the top of the straight and was the last to come off the bridle. She dashed clear at the 300m to defeat the fast-finishing Sacred Falls gelding Rhapsody Chic, who came from last to be beaten by a length and a quarter.

The Per Incanto (USA) filly Allapercanto was a length back in third.

A winner over 1200m at Sandown at two, Lady In Pink finished midfield in the Listed Desirable Stakes at Flemington in November.

“She’s shown talent that is why we started her in some good races last preparation,” stable representative Will Larkin said.

“We gave her a good break to let her mature and she has filled into her frame nicely.

“We questioned whether to go to a stakes race on Saturday over 1200m, but we were hopeful in getting a bit of confidence in her with a win here today. There are a few black-type races around the corner for her.”

A $160,000 purchase for Malua Bloodstock - Pink Race Series Horse Syndicate from the Arrowfield stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Lady In Pink is one of three winners from as many to race for the Encosta De Lago mare Iron Lace.

A 5-time winner and stakes-placed in the AJC Fernhill Hcp, Iron Lace is out of a sister to Group 1 Epsom Hcp winner and Golden Slipper runner-up Excellerator (Marscay), and a half to Group 1 NZ Oaks winner Artistic (Darci Brahma).

Lady In Pink a $160,000 Inglis Classic yearling

Purchased by Claremont Thoroughbreds for just $17,000 on Inglis Digital, Iron Lace had a Castelvecchio colt sell to C Whiteman / Kevin Dagg Bloodstock / GB Bloodstock for $30,000 at the recent Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Dual Group III winner and Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes runner-up Pariah stands at Oaklands Stud for a fee of $8,800.
