Overshare Filly Wins on Debut

Mark Smith - Sunday February 4

Following Lady Laguna's win in the Group III Southern Cross Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday, the 2-year-old filly Overfull rounded out a successful weekend for Widden Stud’s Overshare by making a winning debut at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Ridden by Jag Guthmann-Chester for Peter Robl, the heavily backed favourite bombed the start and came out last before moving into a challenging position on the home turn. Overfull gradually overhauled the Sidestep debutant Step Along to open her winning account by a long neck, with the Sooboog first starter, Pumicestone Road back in third.

Overfull carried the confidence of the stable following an impressive barrier trial at Beaudesert on January 15.

Overfull a $14,000 Inglis Gold yearling

“I told the owners there are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and this filly winning her first start,” Peter Robl said. When she missed the kick, I thought there may be only two certainties, but she showed great tenacity and professionalism."

Overfull banked $16,800 for the win, so she is already in positive territory. She was purchased by Upper Bloodstock / Robl Racing from the  Riverina Downs draft at the 2023 Inglis Gold Yearling Sale.

The daughter of Overshare is the first winner from three to race for the talented Charge Forward mare Longchamp Belle.

A $6,000 purchase for Overfull’s breeders Mario and Jenni Cesnik, Longchamp Belle has a yearling filly by Rich Enuff.

A Group III winning son of I Am Invincible, Overshare stands at Widden Stud, Victoria, for $8,800.
