One to Watch – Wolverhampton

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 30

Baldy faced chestnut Cascadian (GB) is a very popular member of the Godolphin stable in Australia winning last year’s Group I VRC Australian Cup and his three year-old half-sister was an interesting winner at Wolverhampton in the UK overnight.

Trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by Rossa Ryan, Too Darn Hot filly Race the Wind had two starts last July for a fourth and a win at Newmarket, before being given a good break to mature.

Having her first run this year in the 7f novice fillies race, she forged clear as favourite to win by a length and a half.

Race the Wind has now won two of three starts and is the sixth winner from six to race from Group III winning Street Cry mare Falls of Lora, who is the dam of not only triple Group I winner Cascadian, but also Canadian Group I winner Albahr.

Falls of Lora is a half-sister to dual Group I winner Master of the Seas and to the dam of 2023 Group I ATC The Metropolitan winner Just Fine (IRE). She has more in the pipeline with a two year-old colt by Night of Thunder and a yearling colt by Dubawi.

Race the Wind's sire Too Darn Hot has made a fast start in Australia where his oldest runners are two year-olds and already include four winners headed by Arabian Summer and Too Darn Lizzie..
