Aussie Owner Tastes Group Success in Japan

Well known Australian owner breeder Robert Anderson, who won the Group I VRC Myer Classic with homebred Bonaria on this day in 2014, tasted success in a different jurisdiction on Friday when his exciting filly Beluga captured the Group III KBS Kyoto Sho Fantasy Stakes at Kyoto in Japan.

Beluga wins the Group III Fantasy Stakes - TwitterA two year-old filly by Australian bred Japanese based sire Kinshasa No Kiseki (by Fuji Kiseki), Beluga scored a commanding debut win over 1200 metres at Sapporo back in August and this was her first run since then.

Prepared by Mitsumasa Nakauchida, Beluga scored a half length win in the 1400 metre contest in a field of 13.

Beluga is the first winner in Japan for Robert Anderson, who was granted a JRA owners licence last year and has two horses in work with Mitsumasa Nakauchida, a young trainer, who also trains horses for Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Fahad.

Beluga was sourced for Mr Anderson (pictured with Beluga as a yearling below)  from the JRHA Select Yearling Sale last year with advice from Ross Teitzel and Satomi Oka Bloodstock and secured for 48,600,000 yen (approx. $A559,838).



She features a superb Japanese Black Type pedigree and is the sixth winner from Admire Light, a half-sister to 2008 Champion Japanese Sprinter Sleepless Night from the family of Champion Japanese Mare Hishi Amazon and 2007 Japanese Horse of the Year Admire Moon.
