Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale Next Week

Keeneland has cataloged 4,147 horses for its 2017 November Breeding Stock Sale, the world's largest and most important sale of its kind, to be held November 7-18 and will feature the first weanlings by Triple Crown hero American Pharoah, currently in Australia for Coolmore.. 

Headlining the catalog are champion Stellar Wind and multiple Grade 1 stakes winner Lady Eli, both entered in the Breeders' Cup World Championships on Friday and Saturday at Del Mar; while other offerings include the first mares in foal to two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome and a selection of horses of racing age.

Horses cataloged to the sale include 2,037 broodmares and broodmare prospects, 1,683 weanlings, 425 horses of racing age and two stallions. The auction includes the dispersals of Pauls Mill (Ben and Elaine Walden et al) and McCauley Farms, for which Paramount Sales will serve as agent. The Pauls Mill dispersal consists of 43 horses, including broodmares, weanlings and horses of racing age. The McCauley Farms dispersal has 27 broodmares and weanlings.

The sale's first two sessions on Nov. 7-8 comprise the premier Book 1 catalog with sessions beginning at 11 a.m. ET.

Books 2-6 on Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 9-18, begin at 10 a.m.

Keeneland will live stream the entire November Sale at Keeneland.com .

TVG2 will have live coverage of the opening Book 1 session on Nov. 7 from 11-11:30 a.m. ET and noon-5:30 p.m, and on Nov. 8 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

American PharoahThis year's sale includes weanling siblings to Kentucky Derby winner (G1) I'll Have Another and Breeders' Cup winners Champagne Room, Tamarkuz, Mucho Macho Man, Stephanie's Kitten, Tapizar and Caleb's Posse. Siblings to Grade/Group 1 winners Beach Patrol, Caravaggio, Violence, Street Fancy, and Peace and War represent other weanlings in the catalog.

The 188 sires of weanlings in the catalog include the aforementioned American Pharoah, who is represented by 23 members of his first crop. Other sires with their first weanlings in the sale include Bayern, Honor Code, Lea, Liam's Map, Palace Malice, Summer Front and Tonalist.

Among the 2017 graded stakes winners sold as horses of racing age at the November Sale are Grade 1 winner Diversify; Grade 2 winners Celestine, Conquest Panthera, Field of Courage, Hillhouse High, Honorable Duty and Inordinate.
