Tom Walter - Monday October 9

The standout runners from the past week’s racing in New South Wales include an $81 debutant and a future stakes-class mare.

White Moss - a real prospect!

IMAGE NEAT (Hawkesbury – 08/10/17)
You don’t see many $81 chances run like this. Debuted in a 1000m maiden following only a fair trial over the course and distance three weeks prior. Missed the kick and showed no early speed but was able to tack onto the field soon after. Was still a mile off the leaders at the top of the straight but ran on resolutely to be beaten less than a length. When you take into consideration that he was coming off only one trial, connections could not have hoped for a better debut outing. Trainer Scott Singleton has obviously been patient with this four-year-old gelding, which will take a great deal of improvement from the experience and should be suited over a bit further.
Career record (1:0-1-0).

COYS  (Canterbury – 04/10/17)
This Marc Conners-trained galloper was having his first try beyond 1600m when finishing a bold fourth over 1900m at midweek level. Took up the running turning out of the home straight for the first time and set a decent clip in front but stuck on gamely when the swoopers arrived to finish 2-1/4 lengths from the winner Estikhraaj. Think that run will do him the world of good for a similar race next start and will likely go around at a bit of value.
Career record (26:4-3-4).

WHITE MOSS (Canterbury – 04/10/17)
Trainer Jason Coyle has developed some handy mares in recent seasons and think this grey is his next stakes class female. The win was there for all to see on Wednesday – travelled three wide the whole way with no cover but fought on like a tiger to win first-up since May. She only had one trial leading in, so she may be a given a few weeks to get over the run but look out when she returns. Think they can go straight to Saturday class with her next time and will be hard to beat. Another positive lead is her form from last preparation which includes a win over Passage Of Time – another stakes class horse in the making.
Career record (7:4-1-0).
