Racenet lays for Saturday

Breednet - Friday October 6

It’s shaping as a scary weekend to find a winner and the Racenet analysts have put their heads together to give punters another tool to help them turn a profit with the Racenet lays of the day.

FIRSTHAND

$4.40

The favourite in a race of good depth, awkwardly drawn and has plenty of weight - apart from that he’s in this off a four-month break and barrier trials might not be sufficient for a test like this. Of course he can win, but he has a few things against him to suggest he’s worth the risk.

Flemington

ESPERANCE

$4

Doesn’t look an obvious false favourite at Flemington so chancing our arm with Esperance. Won well on debut at Echuca and had data gurus raving before winning at Sandown in Benchmark64 grade. Looked a bit one-paced last start in the Danehill Stakes and while he will likely be suited by the step up in trip we are wondering if the hype is ahead of the horse.

VASSAL

$3.20

Tempting fate in taking on a Chris Waller-trained runner but Vassal has had plenty of chances this preparation and still to win from seven starts. He’s earned his 58kg and is a definite winning chance but do we want to pile in on him as favourite at these odds - I don’t think so.

EMBECEE LIL

$2.50

A tough day at Morphettville but we’re prepared to take on a last start winner here. Tends to get back so the wide draw not such a problem but the rail out 9m is. Drops 2kg from last start win at Balaklava and she’s well in this but the size of the field and traffic might find her out.

Belmont

MAN BOOKER

$2.40

The class horse in the race so understandable he’s favourite. He is first up after six months off and strikes some speedy opposition with 59.5kg topweight so he could be vulnerable. Won his first four starts last preparation but he looks plenty short enough so we’re happy to take him on at the price.
