Brown, who has been with Racing Victoria since 2008 after previously working with Harness Racing Victoria and Betfair after leaving the Victorian police force, will depart RV at the end of the year.

Brown said in a statement that the time was right to look at other opportunities and was proud of his achievements at Racing Victoria.

"I have opportunities to take on new challenges that I am currently considering and with a strong team in place at RV that have an unflinching commitment to maintaining a level playing field for all, the time is right for the next chapter of my professional career and personal development," Brown said.

"I have really enjoyed my time at RV and working in an industry that has overwhelmingly supported stronger investment in protecting integrity and in building stronger connections with other codes, other jurisdictions and other authorities.

"We have a well-earned reputation globally and I am proud of that."

Brown's tenure featured lengthy battles between his department and trainers Danny O'Brien, Mark Kavanagh and Peter Moody over elevated cobalt readings, which resulted in the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board handing down long bans to the trio.

O'Brien and Kavanagh struck back with appeal victories at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

However, the parties are waiting on a Court of Appeal decision on Racing Victoria's appeal against the VCAT verdict.

Racing Victoria chief executive Giles Thompson said Brown has "worked tirelessly" to keep the organisation at the forefront of the latest integrity trends.

"Dayle has successfully restructured the integrity services department into a contemporary team which has garnered a reputation both within Australia and internationally as a global leader in developing systems to protect and enforce the highest levels of integrity," Thompson said.

"He has achieved this primarily through innovation and technology, such as the control room, hawk-eye and the creation of analytical systems, including the first intelligence database for racing integrity, as well as working to drive significant change that has improved the health and safety outcomes for riders and horses."

RV will start its search for Brown's replacement immediately.
