One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 21

The cheapest colt by Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible sold at the 2021 Magic Millions Yearling Sale made a winning debut at Pakenham on Tuesday.

Trained by Peter Moody, He’s Essential was sent out a short priced favourite for the 1000m maiden on the all weather track and after forging clear in the straight had enough left to hold off all challengers and win by a neck.

Winning rider Billy Egan was well pleased with the win .

“He’s got a lot of maturing to do and will keep on improving,” said Egan.

Bought by Moody Racing for just $190,000 from the Yarraman Park draft, He’s Essential runs for a big group of owners including members of the Moody family and has already been gelded.
