Potential Autumn Superstars in Action at Trials

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 27

The Randwick trials on Tuesday morning featured some of the potential big players for this autumn carnival with the first three heats for Group and Listed winners well worth a look.

Group I ATC Golden Rose winner Beiwacht will be well primed when he returns to the races and looked sharp and forward winning his heat over speedy mare Spring Lee with glamour three year-old filly Apocalyptic looking menacing in third place.

Big and strong, Apocalyptic is going to take some beating in her fillies division, while two of the star 3YO fillies from last autumn in Lady Shenandoah and Aeliana looked good working to the line further back in the field.

Beiwacht has designs on a possible overseas raid to Dubai in March, but would need to be in winning form to warrant that adventure.

Last year’s Golden Slipper winner Marhoona won this heat beating Autumn Glow, who looked fabulous, while Pericles, who was in career best form last spring for new trainer Bjorn Baker, also went terrific.

Ceolwulf was asked for little and neither was Wodeton.

Two time Group winning mare Just Feelin’ Lucky was given a good send along to skip clear and win this heat over Lindermann, who trialled terrific again and Tempted was also good surging home under a big hold.

The Tempted vs Apocalyptic battles have the potential to be epic!

Sir Delius was third in the heat, but was ridden along to hold that spot, make of that what you will.
