Few Stallions Have Touched As Many People as this One

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 20

Victorian heavyweight Written Tycoon is the reigning Champion Australian Sire having taken the title last year for the first time and he’s a fascinating stallion having started at a low base before elevating himself to the elite sire ranks and his last two books of mares in particular hold plenty of interest.

Written Tycoon spent 2020 at Arrowfield Stud and then last year he was back in Victoria at his new home of Yulong, so let’s make a comparison of those mare books.

Written Tycoon has sired the winners of over $13.2million this season including 11 SW's.

Written Tycoon had two years at a fee of $110,000 at Woodside Park in Victoria before venturing to Arrowfield for a season at $77,000 and then last year he moved to Yulong and had his fee set at $165,000 which is the same again this year.

Written Tycoon is a stallion that has touched breeders of all budgets and in all states as he also stood briefly in Queensland during which time his Golden Slipper winning Champion 2YO Colt and now leading young sire Capitalist was conceived.

His second two years at stud were at a fee of just $6,600, so it’s fair to say breeders from all walks of life have now had some sort of exposure to this exceptional sire that has made his fortune the hard way.

Despite the difference in service fee $77,000 in 2020 and $165,000 in 2021, the quality of the mares he covered is very similar and the total number exactly the same, 199 for both years.
