Undefeated Fastnet Rock Filly Wins First Stakes Race

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 18

The Listed VRC AR Creswick Stakes at Flemington (1200m) on Saturday was billed as a clash between two exciting 3YO sprinters in Star Patrol and Passive Aggressive and they duly filled the quinella with the Fastnet Rock filly keeping her unblemished record intact.

A $500,000 Inglis Easter investment for Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing on Passive Aggressive has paid dividends with the filly making it four wins from four starts when surging clear  of Star Patrol to win by a length.

Trained by Grahame Begg, Passive Aggressive was a Breednet ‘One to Watch’ when winning on debut at Werribee at the start of the month and has won all three starts since earning over $200,000, but the best is undoubtedly still to come.

Winning rider Jordan Childs has formed a great association with Passive Aggressive and has ridden her at every start.

"It just worked out perfectly. I was able to get a sit off the leader, she travelled so comfortably the whole way and even though I hit the front early, she was just under a nice hold,” he said.

“She still doesn't know what she's doing which is the scary bit, but she got to the front and was just waiting for them. I think once she can really get challenged she'll have another couple of gears up her sleeve."

Grahame Begg has been thrilled with the rapid rise of Passive Aggressive and will now look to give his star filly a short break to plan her future.

"She's a filly that's got a lot of ability. To go and win a stakes race at her fourth run, she's come a long way in a very short space of time. She's got a lot of upside,” Begg said.

"You never know until you actually try them out, but every time she's come to the races she's kept improving. She looked absolutely magnificent walking around today pre-race, she displayed it on the track itself. She keeps on just going ahead every time."

Passive Aggressive was bred and sold by Cressfield.
Bought by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock, Passive Aggressive was bred and sold by Cressfield and is a full sister to Group III winning and multiple Group I placed sprinter Missrock, who won over $1.3million.

Passive Aggressive is the final foal from Group III winning Strategic mare Miss Judgement, who was retired from stud duties last year and is a sibling to Group I winner Mrs Onassis and Group III winners Fifth Avenue Lady and Aussies Love Sport.

The value of this prolific Black Type female family was highlighted when Missrock was offered off the track at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2019 where she fetched $2.3million to the bid of John and Jake Warren and was exported to the UK.

Missrock made $500,000 as a yearling in 2015, the same price paid for Passive Aggressive, so connections will no doubt be hoping her career can unfold with similar success.

Passive Aggressive is the 189th stakes-winner for champion sire Fastnet Rock, who stands at a fee of $165,000 this spring.
