Debut Win for $1million I Am Invincible Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 15

The Chris Waller stable was still riding the overnight high of Nature Strip’s dazzling Royal Ascot triumph last night with the winning mood continuing at Randwick as $1million I am Invincible colt Eponymous made a winning debut.

The two year-old colt was featured in a recent Juvenile Trial Watch story and he took that good form forward to race day.

Well educated with five trials under his belt, Eponymous gave Chad Schofield a good ride travelling smoothly behind the leaders albeit covering some ground, but he hit the line strongly to win the 1100m maiden by a length.

“That was really good,” said stable representative Damien Fitton.

“He’s a lovely colt that has just taken time to mature physically and mentally.”

$1million Inglis Easter purchase Eponymous.

Bought for $1million from the Coolmore draft by Andrew Williams Bloodstock, Eponymous is a half-brother to three winners and comes from a Darley family as his dam Caveat is a sister to Group I winner Camarilla, the dam of four time Group I winner Guelph with champion sprinter Bivouac also on the page.

Eponmyous has the deep pedigree to match his good looks with winning rider Chad Schofield impressed with his performance.

“He’s just a stunning horse that oozes quality,” Schofield said.

“He has a lot of presence and gave me a tremendous feel.”

His Godolphin bred dam Caveat has changed hands several times, most recently when bought for $500,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2019 by James Harron Bloodstock when carrying Eponymous.

She has a yearling filly by Justify (USA) and was covered last spring by Pierro after missing the previous year to Fastnet Rock.

Eponymous is the 13th 2YO winner this season for Yarraman Park's champion sire I Am Invincible.
