Another Day and Another Winner for Russian Revolution

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 13

As we move into the back end of the season, all those Russian Revolution 2YO’s that were stepping out in trials earlier in the year are now making their presence felt on race day with Russian Benefits the latest to salute, winning on debut at Mornington on Monday.

Trained by Michael Mehegan, Russian Benefits was easy in the market but with champion jockey Brett Prebble on board she charted a path through the field from near last to win the 1200m juvenile maiden by a head.

“There’s lots of upside to her, I think with six months under her belt she’ll be a really nice filly,” said Brett Prebble.

A $100,000 Inglis Premier purchase for MJM Racing & Bloodstock Pty Ltd from the Morning Rise Stud draft, Russian Benefits is the third winner from three foals to race from Group III winning Flying Spur mare Bliss Street.

Russian Benefits was bred and sold by Morning Rise Stud.

Russian Benefits is the 13th winner for Russian Revolution, who stands at a fee of $71,500 at Newgate Farm this spring.
