Smart Missile 2YO Wins Six from Six

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 12

There have been a lot of very good 2YO’s race in Australian this year and we saw a number of them contest the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday won by Sheeza Belter, but further north in Queensland at Townsville there was another 2YO in action that notched his sixth win from six starts to be the most winning juvenile so far this season.

Trained by Roy Chillemi, Smart Missile gelding Missile Thunder scored the biggest win of his career when taking out the $100,000 QTIS Classic (1200m) by the best part of two lengths as a short priced favourite.

Missile Thunder won on debut at Townsville in October and has won every start since racking up nearly $180,000 in prizemoney.

A $32,500 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale purchase for Group I Pty Ltd from the Eureka Stud draft, Missile Thunder is the first winner from winning Mossman mare Halle Mcollywill, whose dam is a half-sister to stakes-winner Boisterous Lady, the dam of Group I ATC Australian Oaks winner Rena’s Lady and Group winners Vatuvei and Raise.

Smart Missile

Missile Thunder has won more money than any other 2YO this season by Group I sire Smart Missile, who stands at Twin Hills Stud at a fee of $16,500.
