Strong Demand for Mares in Foal to Wootton Bassett

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 27

The Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale this week highlighted the demand for mares in foal to Coolmore's proven Group I sire Wootton Bassett (GB), who was the leading first season covering sire at the sale by average.

Wootton Bassett will have his first Australian foals born this spring.

Seven mares were sold at an average $367,857 at the Gold Coast with the best result being $590,000 paid for Bell View Park’s young Fastnet Rock mare Liveinthefastlane, who was bought by Avenue Bloodstock.

A metro winning half-sister to US stakes-winner Srumdiddlyumptious, she was in foal to Wootton Bassett in her first season at stud.
