Manhattan Rain is Moving to the West

Media Release - Tuesday May 24

Geisel Park Stud principal Eddie Rigg is joined by progressive Western Australia breeders in having the great pleasure of announcing the acquisition of the high class sire Manhattan Rain to continue his stud career in WA.

Manhattan Rain

Agent John Chalmers, who arranged the sale, described the acquisition as a coup for the Western Australian breeding industry citing the fact that a proven Danehill free horse was crucial to the industry in the state.

Manhattan Rain is a half-brother to the great Australian racehorse and multiple Champion Sire Redoute's Choice. They are from the freakish Canny Lad mare Shantha's Choice who is the dam of no less than five individual stakes winners. This is arguably the most commercial family in the Australian Stud Book.

Well known Australia wide as an outstanding individual, Manhattan Rain was a high class 2YO who won the Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes and placed in both the Golden Slipper and Champagne Stakes. As a 3YO he ran second to So You Think in the WS Cox Plate as well as placing in the Caulfield Guineas.

Manhattan Rain has proven a success at stud siring the Golden Slipper winning Champion Australian 2YO She Will Reign, the South African Group 1 winner Whisky Baron and a total of 32 stakes performers to date.

Manhattan Rain commenced his stud duties at Arrowfield Stud in 2010 and relocated to Blue Gum Farm in 2017. Blue Gum principal Philip Campbell described Manhattan Rain as an absolute pleasure to work with in the breeding shed.

"He is very professional with a terrific libido and wonderful fertility," Campbell remarked.

Manhattan Rain's yearlings have sold consistently in sales throughout the East coast and have averaged $65,000 at sales this year. He will stand the coming season at a fee of $8,800 at the well appointed Geisel Park Myalup under the care of Stud Manager Conor Dunlop.
