Doomben Cup meeting abandoned - Stakes Races Moved

The Group One Doomben Cup meeting which was postponed from Saturday to Wednesday has now been abandoned with stakes races rescheduled throughout the coming weeks including three to this Saturday and involving some mares set to go under the hammer at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale this week.

The Group One Doomben Cup, Group Two Roses and Group 3 BRC Sprint have been moved to this Saturday at Eagle Farm which will create a bumper program including three Group One races – Kingsford-Smith Stakes, Queensland Derby and Doomben Cup.

There are six mares still set to go under the hammer at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale this week which were obviously due to race before sale but now the sale will come before they can run in their respective races.

The mares involved are:

Lot 637 – Floral Oasis for Blue Sky Premium Consignment. The 2YO filly had been entered for the Listed Bill Carter Stakes which has been rescheduled to the Stradbroke meeting on June 4.

Lot 561 - Wild Sheila for Blue Sky Premium Consignment, Lot 564 – Yamazaki for Widden Stud and the twice Group One placed stakes winner Lot 703 - Nudge for Blue Sky Premium Consignment had all been entered for the Pam O’Neill Stakes (Gr3) which has been rescheduled to Saturday July 9.

Lot 514 - Savagal for Blue Sky Premium Consignment and Lot 590 – the Group One placed stakes winner Biscayne Bay for Ciaron Maher Racing had been entered for the Gr.2 The Roses which has been rescheduled to this weekend’s Eagle Farm meeting with new nominations to be taken on Monday.
