Nicconi Joins the Century Club

Nature Strip’s sire Nicconi joined the century club on Tuesday posting his 100th winner of the season to become the third Widden Stud sire to hit the milestone this year with two more set to follow in coming days.

The Matthew Smith trained four year-old mare Bel Suono got the job done for Nicconi winning by nearly two lengths at Goulburn over 1300m.

Nicconi joins Zoustar and the much missed Sebring on the list of sires with 100 winners for the season and will soon be followed by two more Widden sires with Magnus on 99 and Star Witness on 98

Nicconi is also up running third on the Australian General Sires List by earnings with $15.7million putting him just behind So You Think and I Am Invincible.

Priced at $22,000 this spring, Nicconi represents great value and is sure to be popular again.
