Fairhill Farm Aiming for 5 Years At The Top With Quality Weanling Draft

Mike O’Donnell’s Fairhill Farm have been the leading vendor at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale for the past four years and they’ll be right at the pointy end again this year with another quality draft featuring a range of top stallions.

With their reputation now well established in the weanling market, buyers have certainly responded with confidence and been well rewarded, particularly in the pinhook market.

Last year’s draft featured multiple successful pinhooks including:

Capitalist x One More Tequila colt which sold as a weanling for $180,000 before fetching $375,000 as a yearling.

Impending x China Road filly made $45,000 as a weanling before her $110,000 yearling sale.

In 2020 some highlights also included:

Deep Field x Roman Sandals colt made $70,000 as a weanling then $230,000 as a yearling.

Churchill x Flying Strike colt made $42,000 as a weanling before $180,000 as a yearling.

Vancouver x Legible colt made $40,000 as a weanling before $135,000 as a yearling.

Lot 273 Filly by Pierro x Now Now (Danehill Dancer (Ire))

A beautifully put together filly and one of the stars of the draft being a half-sister to multiple stakes winner and Group One placed Fiesta.

The mare has four winners from five to the races and this filly’s half-sister by Justify was the highest priced filly at the Australian Weanling Sale last year, selling for $300,000 before subsequently making $400,000 as a yearling.

The first foal of a winning mare which is out of a half-sister to top class racehorse and sire Not A Single Doubt.

It is a family full of high-class gallopers including Champion 2YO Zizou, Gr.1 Flight Stakes winner Oohood and Gr.1 Sires Produce and Champagne Stakes winner King’s Legacy.

A beautifully developed August foal by the top class second season sire Capitalist, currently top of the Second Season Sires by Winners and Second by prizemoney and with a 2022 yearling average of over $170,000.

Out of a winning daughter of the stakes winning Tequila Knowledge and the family includes two Italian Champions.

A particularly well liked and athletic colt with plenty of scope.

Out of a half-sister to Gr.1 Australian Oaks winner Kirramosa who in turn was out of Gr.1 NZ One Thousand Guineas and Joint NZ Filly Of The Year Olga’s Pal, also the dam of Gr.2 winner Zareyev.

Those are just six of a draft of 31 which also includes weanlings by So You Think, Hellbent, more by Capitalist and Justify, four by Yes Yes Yes among an impressive range of stallions.
