Promising Metro Winner for Hellbent

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 27

Yarraman Park’s exciting young sire Hellbent added a promising winner to his tally at Warwick Farm on Wednesday with Luna Rocks scoring a cavalier win for her huge group of NSW Tycoons owners put together by the Racing League.

Trained by Richard and Will Freedman, Luna Rocks was beaten a nose at her first start at Newcastle on March 31 and took good benefit from that run.

She jumped quickly from an outside gate for Keagan Latham and led all the way to beat the colts and win the 1100m dash by three lengths.

“She’s got some talent, but can be a bit wayward although she has that natural speed,” said Richard Freedman.

“She’s quite a light framed filly and when she matures will be a lovely three year-old. I’m not sure whether we might give her one more run, or go straight to the paddock.”

Luna Rocks was a $360,000 Magic Millions purchase for The Racing League from the Tyreel Stud draft.

Luna Rocks was a $360,000 Magic Millions purchase.

Bred by Bob Hannon, she is a half-sister to Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Group III winner Shaquero being the fifth winner from five foals to race from Fimatino, a half-sister to the dam of Cox Plate winning Group I sire Shamus Award.

Luna Rocks becomes the fourth winner for Hellbent, who will stand again this spring at a fee of $22,000 and has already sired three stakes horses in Warby, Miss Hellfire and Bohemian Daisy.
