Rich Hill Stud Announce 2022 Fees

Media Release - Tuesday April 26

Rich Hill Stud has celebrated major racetrack and sale ring success with its quality stallion line-up and results that have the Waikato-based nursery looking toward the 2022-23 season with great optimism.

“Rich Hill is in a unique position with our stallion roster. We offer three proven international stallions and two young stallions with world class credentials,” Rich Hill Managing Director John Thompson said.

“Our stallion line-up reflects the global success of the New Zealand-bred product while our fees give our clients an opportunity for economic return.”

Proisir

Proisir has cemented his position as one of Australasia’s up and coming sires with his high-class first- crop daughter Levante now a dual Group One winner. She confirmed she can compete with the best sprinters in Australia with her bold showing for fourth in the Gr.1 VRC Newmarket at Flemington.

Exciting gallopers Aspen Colorado, Riodini, Yonce and Waitak also performed at Group One level this season, while Dark Destroyer and Soldier Boy were three-year-old stakes winners.

“The progeny resulting from Proisir’s biggest and best quality books are currently weanlings. He has consistently upgraded his mares and his profile will continue to rise in future years,” Thompson said.

Proisir will stand at $17,500 + GST for the 2022 breeding season.

New Zealand’s current leading second-season sire Vadamos has made a strong start to his stud career and the Group One-winning son of Monsun has backed up his sale ring success on the racetrack.

Vadamos

His high-quality daughter La Crique thumped her opposition in the Gr.2 WRC Desert Gold Stakes (1600m) and the Gr.2 Avondale Guineas (2100m) before being held up and finishing strongly for second in the Gr.1 New Zealand Derby (2400m).

Vadamos has sired two other stakes winners in Art de Triomphe and Grace’s Secret while he has a number of lightly-raced, promising gallopers to represent him next season.

Vadamos will stand at $15,000 + GST for the 2022 breeding season.

Shocking, a dual Group One-winning son of Street Cry, has been a revelation this season and has sired eight individual Australasian stakes winners, including Gr.1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) winner I’m Thunderstruck, multiple Group Two winner and joint NZB Filly of The Year Self Obsession and Australian Group winners Elephant and Nerve Not Verve.

Shocking

He currently sits third on the Dewar Stallion Award, behind Savabeel and Tavistock, with combined New Zealand and Australian earnings in excess of $8 million. He has sired five stakes winners in Australia this season and is second to Extreme Choice on the Australian sires’ list by percentage of stakes winners to runners.

Shocking will stand at $12,500 + GST for the 2022 breeding season.

Rich Hill is also delighted to confirm that Deep Impact’s Group One-winning son Satono Aladdin will once again be available to New Zealand breeders.

Satono Aladdin

He has been a popular stallion in the sale ring with his first crop yearlings selling for up to $360,000 and he has made an encouraging start to his Australasian stud career. From only six first crop runners, he has sired unbeaten two-year-olds Kabugee and Hokkaido and two placegetters including stakes performer Sacred Satono.

“The positive feedback regarding the stock of this beautifully bred son of breed-shaping sire Deep Impact has been very encouraging and we believe he will be a huge asset to the New Zealand breeding industry in years to come,” Thompson said.

Satono Aladdin will stand at $12,500 + GST for the 2022 breeding season and will serve a limited book.

Rich Hill’s 2022 stallion line-up is completed by High Chaparral’s dual Group One-winning son Ace High.

He was Australia’s dominant spring three-year-old winning the sire-making Gr.1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) in Sydney and then claimed the Gr.1 VRC Derby (2500m), a rare feat that leading sires Dundeel and Savabeel both attempted.

Ace High

Ace High’s first crop yearlings were well received at Karaka earlier this year with a top price of $160,000 and his twelve Book One yearlings averaged $94,000, nearly 10-times his service fee.

“Ace High is a magnificent physical specimen by High Chaparral from a Redoute’s Choice mare out of a mare by Sunday Silence,” Thompson said.

“He is a dual Group One winner from the family of Danehill and Northern Dancer so he has all the credentials for stud success.”

Ace High will stand at $10,000 + GST for the 2022 breeding season.

“The demand for New Zealand-bred racehorses is currently very strong. Rich Hill stallions have performed well in all our major markets so it is an exciting time for everyone who has supported our product,” Thompson said.
