One to Watch – Sunshine Coast

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 24

Featured in a recent Juvenile Trial Watch story, the most expensive filly by Spirit of Boom became his latest winner when saluting on debut at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

The Tony Gollan trained filly Bezique showed plenty of toe in a recent trial win and took that form to the races to score a stylish two and a quarter length win in the 1000m juvenile maiden.

Bezique was a $475,000 Magic Millions purchase for Black Soil Bloodstock/John Foote Bloodstock/Gollan Racing from the Strawberry Hill Stud draft and runs in the Isotope colours.

Bezique was a $475,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Strawberry Hill Stud draft.
She is a half-sister to stakes-winner Eawase and is from former brilliant Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Karuta Queen, who was also a Group III winner and finished second to Black Caviar in a Group I MVRC William Reid Stakes.

Karuta Queen has been a very profitable producer for Strawberry Hill with her previous yearling before Bezique, a filly by Written Tycoon, selling for $1.5million at Magic Millions and her Zoustar filly this year selling for $950,000.

Bezique is the 12th 2YO winner this season for Eureka Stud’s Spirit of Boom, who covered her dam Karuta Queen again last spring.
