Coolmore Move on Best of Bordeaux

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 20

Fillies have won all three legs of the Juvenile Triple Crown this year with Golden Slipper runner-up Best of Bordeaux the best performed colt of the Sydney autumn with Coolmore moving to secure a majority share in the son of Snitzel.

In a deal brokered by bloodstock agent Julian Blaxland, the husband of the colt’s trainer Kacy Fogden, Best of Bordeaux will remain in training with her and a spring campaign will target races such as the Group I ATC Golden Rose and VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes.

Bred by Gerry Harvey’s Baramul Stud, Best of Bordeaux was bought from his draft at Magic Millions by Kacy Fogden for $425,000 and has had just the three starts in elite stakes company for two wins in the Group II ATC Silver Slippper and Group III Canonbury Stakes, plus that memorable Golden Slipper second.

Racing in the ownership of the Fung Family, Harvey and Fogden, he has already won over $1million with the promise of much more to come.

On the pedigree front, Best of Bordeaux has much to offer with his first three dams by outstanding shuttle sires High Chaparral (IRE), Last Tycoon (IRE) and Kenmare (Fr) with his stakes-placed grand-dam Lady Capel a noted blue hen as the dam of Group I winning sire Casino Prince and grand-dam of Group I winner Prince Fawaz.

High Chaparral was a huge success story for Coolmore being an Epsom Derby winning son of Sadler's Wells that carved out an exceptional stud career working effectively in both hemispheres and importantly proving a sire of sires through the likes of So You Think, Dundeel and Toronado (IRE).

Best of Bordeaux will be the first son of Arrowfield Stud’s champion sire Snitzel to stand at Coolmore.
