Brazen Beau's Bulsara Breaks Maiden at Ipswich

Mark Smith - Wednesday April 20

Four last start winners made the Get Social @ipswichturfclub (1200m) for two-year-olds at Ipswich a competitive contest; however, the lightly raced Brazen Beau colt Bulsara saw them all off.

Given the run of the race by Larry Cassidy, Bulsara peeled out from behind the leader Sailor's Secret to win by a short neck over the luckless Heroic Valour gelding Uncommon Valour with the Better Than Ready gelding Sailor's Secret a further half-length back in third.

Trained by Chris Waller, Bulsara failed on debut when beating just one of the seven starters home at Doomben on April 4.

"He's a smashing type. We left a little disappointed from Doomben, where he was very new and just didn't participate," stable representative Brett Killion said.

"He came back bucking in the enclosure when the jockey got off, so we knew he didn't put in 100 %.

"We added blinkers and a tongue-tie today, which proved significant.

"While we weren't confident, we were hopeful we would see what we know he has got."

Bulsara was a $100,000 purchase for Star Thoroughbreds/Randwick Bloodstock Agency P/L (FBAA) from the Kenmore Lodge draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Bulsara a $100,000 Magic Millions Yearling

A half-brother to stakes-placed Kardashing (Redoute's Choice), Bulsara is the sixth winner from as many to race out of the talented racemare Show Stealer (Tobougg).

Purchased by Kenmore Lodge for $45,000 from the Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm draft at the 2019 National Broodmare Sale, Show Stealer is a half-sister to Group II STC Todman Stakes winner Great Crusader and the dam of the Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Real Surreal and Group III BRC Vo Rogue Plate winner Benny's Buttons.

Show Stealer has a yearling colt by Mendelssohn (USA) and a weanling filly by Better Than Ready.
