Vendors offering yearlings by American Pharoah (USA) at Inglis Easter next week will be pleased to note the Triple Crown winner had a race to race double at Pakenham on Thursday with two promising maiden winners prepared by the Lindsay Park team and Peter Moody.

Two year-old colt Tijuana was well prepared for his debut in the 1200m maiden by Ben and JD Hayes, surging to the line to score a soft three-quarter length win.
 



A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase for  Best Bloodstock Pty Ltd/Lindsay Park Racing from the Eureka Stud draft, Tijuana is a half-brother to stakes-placed Mexican Tycoon and is the fourth winner from Champion Singapore 2YO Mexican Rose.

Making it a double for American Pharoah in the next race was the Peter Moody trained three year-old gelding Ancient Egypt, who settled at the rear and then raced clear for a length and a half win over 1600m at his second start.

“We’ve done a lot of work teaching this horse to settle, so once he got back there he dropped the bridle and relaxed nicely and finished the race off in great form,” said stable representative Katherine Coleman.

A $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Moody Racing from the Coolmore draft, Ancient Egypt runs for a big ownership group that includes Coolmore and partners.

He is the first winner for Spiced, a winning half-sister by Exceed and Excel to stakes-winner Solemn from the family of Group I winners La Volta and Mighty Boss.

Spiced produced another filly by American Pharoah last spring.

American Pharoah has nine entries for Inglis Easter and you can see them here with highlights including Lot 191, the half-sister to Melbourne Cup winner Vow and Declare and Lot 205, the half-sister to Group I winner Wild Ruler.
