Promise Of Success - She Deserved That One

Mark Smith - Monday March 28

Purchased for just 27,000 by David Redvers Bloodstock / Rosemount Stud at the 2019 Tattersalls December Mare Sale after failing to win in four starts, Promise Of Success (GB) has been a little star from the time she set foot in Australia.

The John O’Shea-trained daughter of Dansili missed a place for the first time in her adopted homeland when a meritorious fourth in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic.

Runner-up in the Group II Guy Walter Stakes and Group II Triscay Stakes, Promise Of Success (GB) had her moment in the sun in Monday’s Canadian Club Emancipation Stakes at Newcastle. With Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle, Promise Of Success (GB) scored a fighting quarter length win over Zoustar mare Kikou with the Vancouver mare Vangellic the same distance back in third.

“The mare deserved it. She’s been racing really consistently all preparation and probably today is the first day where she got circumstances to suit her,” O’Shea said

“She’s done a good job to stick her neck out and win and a lovely ride from Kerrin (McEvoy).”

“Kerrin got on his bike a little and it was probably a winning move. We were happy to be following Nimalee early doors, but Brenton (Avdulla on Nimalee) waited before he got going and I suppose Kerrin took the initiative and put her into the race.

“She is much better on tracks like this and Randwick. She loves Randwick where she can get her big action wound up and hit the line. She can sustain a long sprint. She is a lovely mare and I’ve been blessed to train her and I’m very grateful to connections at Rosemont that sent her to us.

“She will head to the Legacy (Queen Of The Turf Stakes). It has always been on her radar and I think it will be nice for her to go there now with her tail in the air and a nice win. She will have to step up another cog, but she is so much and more effective at Randwick, so hopefully that’s sufficient enough to have her in the race.”

Promise Of Success (GB) is the best of two winners from as many to race out of the Street Cry (IRE) mare Summer School who is a descendent of the influential Allegretta, the dam of Urban Sea (dam of Galileo and Sea the Stars)  and King’s Best.

Promise Of Success (GB) is the 152nd black-type winner for Juddmonte Farms Dansili (Danehill).
