Headwater's Wisdom Of Water Breaks the Drought

Mark Smith - Wednesday December 15

The striking Headwater entire Wisdom of Water is gradually returning to the form that made him one of the most exciting two-year-olds in the nation two seasons back.

Given an inspired ride by Rachel King, Wisdom of Water found the winners circle for the first time in 14-starts, since the Group III Ken Russell at the Gold Coast in May 2020, in Wednesday’s $100,000 Magic Millions 3yo and 4yo at Wyong.

Given a ground saving ride, the Annabel Neasham-trained 4yo tracked the leader Glamour and Glory. Baulked for a run when attempting to ease out, King ducked back to the rails on the chestnut. He proved a neck to good for the outsider Compassionate (Into Mischief) with a long head further back to the dead-heaters Tanker Pride Of Dubai and Snitzonfire (Snitzel).

The Neasham stable is the third for Wisdom Of Water who began with Toby and Trent Edmonds, when the Fung family bought into him. After two forgettable runs at three for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, Wisdom Of Water was transferred to Neasham.

“It was a lovely ride. I thought she was going to go the wrong way at one stage, but it opened up. Things got a bit tight, but it was great to see him knuckle down and fight,” Neasham said.

“It’s been a long time between drinks for him, but it was perfect conditions for him today.

“He’s been looking great. He did not enjoy it in Melbourne, but came back and I thought he was super at Kembla behind Eleven Eleven (in the $300,000 The Warra) and he ran well the other day.

“He has been knocking on the door to get back in the winner’s enclosure. He is a very talented colt and I am delighted for the Fung’s because they are great supporters of mine and he is one of their favourites.

“We will take him to the Gold Coast. He has won races there before and seems to race well there. Being a Magic Millions horse there will be options up there for him.”

Bred by Eureka Stud, Wisdom Of Water advances his record to four wins, a second, and three thirds from 19 starts with earnings of $494,950
