Final Foal of Golden Slipper Heroine becomes her First Stakes Winner

Mark Smith - Saturday June 19

The John O'Shea-trained Lillemor denied Lee Freedman the best possible return to the training ranks when she edged out Intrepidacious in a deceptive finish to Saturday's Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic (1200m) at Ipswich.

Ridden by Ben Thompson, Lillemor (Hallowed Crown) put her head in front where it mattered most to defeat Intrepidacious (Shooting To Win) by a nose with Blazing Miss (Sizzling) a half-head back in third.

Coming off a fast-finishing win at Randwick, Lillemor made her first attempt at stakes level count to advance her record to seven wins, three seconds, and two thirds from 17 starts with earnings of $363,515.

"She came up to us on Thursday, so we have been looking after her for a few days," stable representative Angela Plumb said.

"They sent her up in excellent order. I wasn't 100 per cent sure (that she had won).  Her old stablemate Intrepidacious ran second.

"It is a fun day with a huge turnout, and it is fantastic to be part of it."

A homebred for Twin Palms Stud, Lillemor is the tenth foal and first stakes-winner for the 2003 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success (Success Express).

Eight of her nine foals to reach the track are winners, with  Polaway (Giant's Causeway) and Lockroy (More Than Ready) being stakes-placed.

The 4yo daughter of Hallowed Crown is the final foal of Polar Success, who died in 2017.

Lillemor becomes the third stakes-winner for Twin Hills Stud's Hallowed Crown.

The dual Group 1 winning son of Street Sense (USA) will stand the 2021 season at a fee of $11,000.
