Another Impressive Winner for Star Turn

Mark Smith - Sunday May 16

There was a lot to like about the winning career debut of the Star Turn filly All About Eve in the Catanach's Jewellers Maiden (1100m) at Bendigo on Sunday.

Apprentice Will Price gave the Andrew Noblet-trained chestnut plenty of time to find her feet from an outside barrier. Back at the tail end of the field turning for home, Price came widest of all on All About Eve. She picked off one after another in the straight before coming under threat from the heavily backed favourite Mac 'n' Cheese. Also standing the leaders a big start on the turn, the $300,000 daughter of Sebring came with a run between runners to fall a neck short.

The Brazen Beau filly Shame For Fame was one and a quarter lengths back in third.

"Her jump-outs have been good, and she has always shown ability at home. It was just a matter of her putting it together on race day," Noblet told Racing.com.

&quo

t;I didn't expect her to be that far back but did a great job. It's very hard to win at your first day at the races, and she did it very well.

"She is a nice horse. We will see how she pulls up and see where we go from here, but it's great to get the first one out of the way.

All About Eve a $110,000 Inglis Premier Yearling

Passed in when failing to make her $50,000 reserve at the 2019 National Weanling Sale, All About Eve was hammered down to Carbine Thoroughbreds / Suman Hedge Bloodstock for $110,000 out of the Rushton Park draft at the 2020 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

A half-sister to Group II-placed Akkadian (Nicconi), All About Eve is the fourth winner from as many to race out of the unraced Blackfriars mare Garden Of Eden.

Purchased by Randwick Bloodstock Agency (FBAA) for $20,000 at the  2017 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale, when carrying a Nicconi colt that would make $120,000 as a yearling, Garden Of Eden is a half-sister to 5-time Group III winner Grand Nirvana (Scenic) out of the Group III WA Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Paradice Park (Bletchley Park).

Garden Of Eaden has a weanling colt by So You Think and was covered by Frosted (USA) last spring.

All About Eve becomes the 11h first crop winner by Star Turn in Australia while his son Cordyceps Six was an impreessive winner at Sha Tin..

With service fees on the increase in 2021, this striking son of Star Witness looks exceptional value at $16,500 at Vinery Stud.
