Two Out of Two for Superhard

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 6
Talented All Too Hard colt Superhard made it two wins in as many starts when he saluted at Sandown on Wednesday in the Champion Thoroughbreds colours.

The Robert Smerdon trained colt was an easy winner on debut at Pakenham last month and ran up to that good form when taking out this tougher Benchmark 70 sprint over 1000 metres.

Superhard as a yearlingHe travelled in third for Ryan Maloney a good margin back from the leaders, but was tenacious in the run to the line, charging home to win by a long head in a brisk 57.61 seconds.

Connections will be thinking spring after the win given Superhard is among entries for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas on October 14.

A $130,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Champion Thoroughbreds from the Kitchwin Hills draft, Superhard is a half-brother to Group II winner Twilight Royale and stakes-placed Mio Roiale.

He is the seventh winner from good producing Royal Academy (USA) mare Royal Season.

Superhard is one of a flurry of winners since the start of the new season for All Too Hard, who stands at a fee of $44,000 this spring.
