I Am Invincible's Dame Giselle Gets Her Black Type

Breednet - Saturday March 7

She landed the big bucks for connections two starts back and at Rosehill on Saturday, brave I Am Invincible filly Dame Giselle chalked up her first stakes win in the Gr2 Reisling Stakes.

Dame Giselle's yearling shotBack in November, Dame Giselle easily won the inaugural running of the $1million Golden Gift, a race which is devoid of black type but did put $600,000 into the bank for connections and secured a Golden Slipper start.

It wasn’t easy this time however, scoring in a final stride photo finish in a tough effort, prevailing over Siyouni filly See You Soon who had finished runner-up to Dame Giselle in the Golden Gift also.

In fact it was third time the pair had finished one-two in a race, with See You Soon having taken the honours in a narrow victory when the pair were making their debut.

The winner had been forced to race wide without cover today in a reasonably slowly run race and bunched field, and looked the likely winner for most of the home straight until See You Soon rallied from well back along the rails to just miss.

It was an effort which certainly put See You Soon’s performance at least on equal footing with the winner and she is also assured a start in the Golden Slipper courtesy of over $300,000 in prizemoney.

The figures for race however saw these fillies run a slower overall time and a significantly slower last 600m sectional than what Farnan had recorded earlier.

Purchased by Go Bloodstock for $500,000 out of the Sledmere Stud draft at the 2019 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Dame Giselle was bred by China Horse Club and races for Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock and China Horse Club, who retained a share in the talented filly.

Dame Giselle is a three-quarter sister to Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes winner Steal My Kisses out of the Group II VRC AV Kewney Stakes and Group II MRC Angus Armanasco Stakes winner Ballet Society, who was third in the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas.
