$620,000 New Benchmark for Pride of Dubai

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 8

With his oldest progeny just two year-olds and already including the stakes-winner Tanker, Coolmore’s exciting young sire Pride of Dubai made his presence felt during Magic Millions on Wednesday with a colt from Archangel selling for $620,000.

A $550,000 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale purchase for James Bester Bloodstock in 2018 on behalf of Coolmore, Lonhro mare Archangel has delivered the goods in style with her first foal.

He was snapped up by some of the best judges in the business in Guy Mulcaster and Chris Waller setting a new benchmark for his sire as his most expensive yearling to date.

Coolmore’s Tom Moore points out that Guy Mulcaster has enjoyed previous success purchasing from Coolmore at Magic Millions, having secured Winx from their draft in 2013, the world champion superstar sired by Pride of Dubai’s sire Street Cry (IRE).

$620,000 Pride of Dubai colt from ArchangelThis top class colt comes with an impressive pedigree as Archangel is a winning sibling to Group winners Fravashi and Pure Joy.

Archangel was covered by American Pharoah last spring after missing to Fastnet Rock the previous season.

A dual Group I winning two year-old, Pride of Dubai has made a flying start to his stud career with stakes-winner Tanker and stakes-placed Dubai Star and Bella Nipotina.
