Triple Crown Celebrate Runaway Your Song Winner

The Triple Crown colours were carried to victory in the opening race at Canterbury on Wednesday by promising Your Song colt Brave Song, a $67,500 Inglis Classic purchase from the Yarraman Park draft.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Brave Song was narrowly beaten on debut at the same venue three weeks ago when he bumped into highly rated So You Think colt Calculated.

Brave Song as a yearlingSent out favourite for the 1200 metre maiden on the strength of that good performance he travelled smoothly for Hugh Bowman just off the pace and powered clear at the finish to win by a commanding three lengths.

"He franked that form from the other day," said Paul Snowden.

"He did everything wrong and probably should have won. He really impressed us with the way he trained on from that, so it's pleasing to see him win today.

"He's been a very slow maturer and he's still learning what it's all about."

Hugh Bowman was impressed with Brave Song and feels there are better wins in store.

"He knew what he was here for today," Bowman said, adding that Saturday grade races would be well within his scope in coming weeks.

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Brave Song is the third winner for Brave Choice, a sibling to Group II winner Brave Prince and stakes-winner Valourina, the dam of Group winners Media, Timbourina

Yarraman Park sold the current yearling from Brace Choice, a colt by I am Invincible, for $220,000 at Magic Millions to Toby Edmonds.

Brave Song is the 11th first crop winner for Widden Stud's Your Song, who is the leading Australian first season sire by winners.

The Group I winning son of Fastnet Rock stands at a fee of $22,000 this spring.
