Brilliant Return for Loving Gaby

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 27
Super talented I Am Invincible filly Loving Gaby was placed in the Group I ATC Champagne Stakes and ATC Sires Produce Stakes last season and showed her class when powering home to win the Group III AMVRC Scarborough Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained filly was considered to be underdone for this 1200 metre assignment, but class carries you a long way and under a cool ride from Damian Lane, Loving Gaby charged home to defeat Exhilarates.

"She's really come on in the last couple of weeks," said Damian Lane.

"I was back and wide, but when she let down from the corner she was dominant."

Loving Gaby has the overall record of two wins and two placings from six starts with prizemoney topping $670,000.

"It's great to have her back," said Ciaron Maher.

Loving Gaby as a yearling"It was a high quality field and we knew she was vulnerable as she's still a bit soft.

"She's on her way to the Myer Classic now. From 1200 to 1400 to 1600 metres, she's effective over all distances. She's just a good horse."

A $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Phoenix Thoroughbreds from the Kia Ora Stud draft, Loving Gaby was bred by Kia Ora in partnership with Alan Bell and is the first foal of Group II placed Maastricht, who was race by Bell.

A half-sister by Mastercraftsman (IRE) to Group I winner Velocitea, Maastricht has a yearling filly by Sebring and is due to foal to I Am Invincible again this spring.

She was offered at the Inglis Chairman's Sale earlier this year where she was bought by Coolmore/James Bester Bloodstock for $2,250,000 with the aim of being covered by Triple Crown hero Justify.
