Stunning Filly for Blue Hen

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 5
Newgate Farm's young gun Russian Revolution covered 226 top class mares last spring and among them was revered blue hen Mica's Pride, who has delighted everyone at Segenhoe Stud with the arrival of a gorgeous bay filly.

Owned by Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock, Mica's Pride was a Group III winner on the track, but at stud the daughter of Bite the Bullet (USA) has achieved superstar status as the dam of 10 foals to race all winners headed by $7million earning four time Group I winner Criterion, $1.8 million earning Group I BRC Doomben Cup winner Comin' Through, Group II winner Varenna Miss and stakes-winner Silently, the dam of South African Group III winner Muwaary.

Mica's Pride calls Segenhoe Stud home these days and her Russian Revolution filly has the looks to match her superstar pedigree.

"It's an honour to have a blue hen like Mica's Pride on the farm and you can see from the photograph she looks half her age," said Peter O'Brien of Segenhoe Stud.

"For a 21 year old mare to have a foal of this quality says everything about her and also Russian Revolution, whose foals are peas in a pod and simply, look fast."

Fast they should be, given Russian Revolution was an electric sprinter that won seven of 11 starts with highlight wins in the Group I MRC The Galaxy and the MRC Oakleigh Plate, a race won by his champion sire Snitzel.

Russian Revolution stands at Newgate Farm at a fee of $55,000.
