First Foal for Russian Revolution

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 25
There's been plenty of excitement at Newgate Farm this week with the arrival of the first foal for our electrifying dual Group I winning sprinter Russian Revolution.

An explosive sprinter that won seven of 11 starts with highlight victories in the Group I ATC The Galaxy and MRC Oakleigh Plate, Russian Revolution was among the busiest sires in 2019 covering 226 mares.

His first foal was born this week at Newgate with Group II placed Encosta de Lago mare In the Vanguard producing this lovely filly for Go Bloodstock, photographed when she was a few days old.

" It feels like we have a new arrival in the family. Russian Revolution has been with us since Henry, Michael and the team purchased him as a yearling, and he gave us so many thrills on the racetrack with seven wins from just 11 starts including his two Group 1s. This filly has inherited all his quality, and she is just perfect in so many ways. We targeted Encosta De Lago mares for him, and we targeted speed. This filly's mother, In The Vanguard, a Sydney city 2YO winner and second in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace, ticks both those boxes and Sir Owen Glenn has got the best result. We are delighted and excited," commented Newgate General Manager Bruce Slade.

A stunning individual with a world renowned pedigree featuring champion Australian sires Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur, Russian Revolution stands this spring at a fee of $55,000.
