Deep Field 3YO Impressive

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 5
Prepared by Anthony Freedman, Aerozoom looked to have a forlorn chance of winning when cluttered up back in the field on the fence, but overcame difficulties to score a fast finishing win at Seymour on Thursday.

Deep Field has had eight winners this seasonHaving his first run back from a spell following an unplaced debut back in May, Aerozoom was ridden patiently by Damian Lane and found himself awkwardly placed as the field turned for home in the 1000 metre maiden.

He was able to find a narrow gap and accelerated hard to snatch a head win that earned praise from Lane.

"To make up that much ground in such a short space was a good effort," Lane said.

Sam Freedman was representing his father and feels the gelding can get further as he matures.

"He got the gap and hit the line strong," he said.

"We thought a lot of him last preparation, but he had a growth spurt and was just not ready.

"He's a big boy now and hopefully he'll get out to 1400 metres or a bit further in time."

A $100,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Anthony Freedman Racing from the Aquis Farm draft, Aerozoom is a half-brother to Group III winner Metallic Crown and stakes-winner Snitzepeg being the seventh winner from good producer Pegasus Queen.

Aerozoom is the 27th first crop winner for Deep Field and is his eighth since the start of the new season.

Deep Field stands at a fee of $44,000 at Newgate this spring.
