Fiery Winner for Pierro

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 28
Talented Pierro colt Fiery Red had three starts in elite company last season at two and appreciated the drop back to maiden class for his first run this preparation, carrying the Aquis colours to a stylish victory at Warwick Farm.

Fiery Red as a yearlingPrimed for his return with three trials, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Fiery Red led all the way for Tommy Berry and kicked hard to the line to win the 1100 metre maiden by half a length over highly rated first start Quantico, a $1,050,000 Inglis Easter colt by I Am Invincible.

"It's good to see him put it all together. He's a much stronger horse this time and we saw that today," said Adrian Bott.

"We'll take him through his grades this preparation and he's probably best suited over sprinting trips."

A $160,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Aquis/Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott from the Newgate Farm draft, Fiery Red was bred by the Kolivos family, who raced his sire Pierro.

He is the first winner for Blazing Snitzel, a half-sister by Snitzel to stakes-winner Excuse My French from the family of Group I winner Julinsky Prince. Blazing Snitzel also has a yearling colt by Pierro and is in foal to Zoustar.

Fiery Pierro looks a bright prospect for his sire Pierro, who stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $88,000.
